The author of Cuba, the island I treasure contacted me to translate his book from English to Spanish. Proofreading was the main concern here since the author's native language is also Spanish but was insecure about his grammar and syntaxis.

Walter Fitzwater previously published his book 'Cuba, the island I treasure' under another editorial that didn't meet his expectations. The design was outdated, the launching was not promising, and the book didn't outreach the public he was aiming for.
Initially, I worked exclusively as a translator and proofreader of Spanish, paying attention to the message he wanted to convey and using a neutral tone. Keeping some colloquialisms and idioms proper of his natal country.
The second phase was the complete redesign of the book cover, so it's more eye-catching and modern.

The Book
We kept the design minimal but strong. Using a photo of a typical Cuban street with an overlay of torn paper to remember the painful journey this country has gone through.
The main fonts used there also reflects the same feeling while the secondary ones were kept simple so the design doesn't look cluttered or overpowering.
Finally, the book is in its final stages before printing, for which we are preparing an adequate targeting and launching
